Professional Bio
Dr. Gary Butler is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Camgian Corporation and has spent two decades working in the field of intelligent systems. Camgian’s clients have included organizations such as DARPA, Bloomberg, the US Army, Parker Hannifin, Jefferies, NUCOR Steel, the US Air Force, DE Shaw, International Paper, Taylor Machine Works, Citadel, and Steel Dynamics. Prior to founding Camgian, Gary was a division engineer for internet pioneer, BBN Technologies (now Raytheon BBN Technologies) and worked on the development of AI-based target classification algorithms and systems that supported advanced military sensing platforms.
Dr. Butler earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in engineering where he was a member of Churchill College and studied the modeling of complex dynamical systems and the application of wavelets to signal analysis. Dr. Butler earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tulane University, and an executive certificate in strategy and innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
